Benefits of working with us

We value all of our colleagues at Great Rail Journeys and believe that your wellbeing plays an important role in creating the warm culture and welcoming atmosphere the Dutch call 'gezellig'.

As such, we have created an attractive offering of social and employment benefits to ensure everyone enjoys their career at GRJ and feels supported throughout.

Team Spirit

We're not a hierarchical company and understand the importance of being 'one team'. Our CEO, Dave, hosts regular Town Hall meetings to update us on the company's progress and what's coming up.

There are also regular get-togethers, including monthly 'borrels'. This Dutch tradition is a laid-back, casual catch-up with colleagues (and snacks) in our on-site social space.

Each month, free lunch is provided from a local food truck, from pizzas and burgers to Japanese and Ghanaian food. People are also encouraged to arrange events for colleagues, so you could join in a lunchtime run or take part in a yoga session on our terrace.

Our employment benefits

Annual Leave

All colleagues receive 33 days holiday each year, including bank holidays. There's also the option to buy or sell up to 3 days holiday each calendar year.

Enhanced Maternity & Paternity Packages

We're committed to supporting new parents. All colleagues who've been with us for a year or more are eligible for our enhanced maternity and paternity schemes.

Company Sick Pay

After passing your three-month probation period, we'll pay up to 10 days' company sick pay (over a rolling 12-month period) to top you up to your full pay.

Pension

Colleagues are automatically entered into our pension scheme. You can choose the level of contribution of either 4% or 5% and we'll match your contribution.

Death in Service

From the moment you join, all colleagues are covered by a Death in Service benefit, which is 4 x basic salary.

Healthcare Cashback Plan

Our healthcare benefit is designed to support your health and wellbeing. It provides you with cash benefits and health services, including money back towards optical and dental care, and therapy treatments such as physiotherapy, chiropractic and osteopathy.

You'll have access to a 24-hour confidential counselling, advice and information line, cover for private consultations, MRI and CT scans, and much more.

Refer-a-Friend Scheme

Our Refer-a-Friend scheme means you'll be rewarded with an incentive payment if a friend or family member also joins the GRJ team.

GRJ Tour Discounts

We like to encourage our colleagues to experience and enjoy the products that we offer. Once you've completed your probation period, you can benefit from a discounted rate on our tours, on Eurostar tickets and on flights.

Retail Discounts

You'll have access to a rewards platform that offers exclusive discounts and special offers on many well-known brands. If health and fitness is your thing, we've also negotiated discount at a local gym.
