Honfleur
The charming port town of Honfleur is located on the southern bank of the Seine Estuary in the Calvados region of France - a region famous for its apple brandy.
Honfleur is centred on its adorable historic port and marina - the 'Vieux Bassin' - and boasts a number of preserved traditional buildings. The port area of Honfleur comes to life as darkness falls, with numerous restaurants, cafés and bars spilling onto the street beside the harbour. There is also a beautiful, illuminated carousel in situ almost all year round.
Honfleur is famous as the inspiration for artists including Monet, Courbet and Boudin. They chose this historic fishing port as the location for the Ecole de Honfleur, an artists' colony which inspired the Impressionist movement.
