Murren
Nestled at the foot of the famous Schiltorn Mountain is the
pretty, unspoilt village of Mürren. The village occupies a mountain
terrace above the Lauterbrunnen valley at an altitude of 5,413 feet
(1,650 metres). Mürren attracts visitors throughout the year,
although the true attraction for many is the 'Piz Gloria' - an
impressive rotating restaurant built at the summit of the
Schiltorn, made famous by the 1969 James Bond film "On Her
Majesty's Secret Service".
The summit of the Schiltorn is reached by cable car, where on a
clear day as many as 200 mountain peaks can be seen. From Mürren
there are a number of marked walking trails which lead through the
forests and scenery surrounding the village. A more adventurous
option is to enjoy ice skating on the village's open-air rink.
