Snaefell Mountain Railway

The Snaefell Mountain Railway is a 5 mile (8km) long electric railway which connects the village of Laxey with the summit of Snaefell, the Isle of Man's highest point. During the 30 minute journey, passengers travel up gradients of 1 in 12 in delightful wooden-bodied railcars dating back to 1895. On the way up, passengers can enjoy fantastic views over Laxey Glens and on a clear day, it may be possible to see Ireland, Wales, Scotland and England. A café at the summit offers you the opportunity to enjoy lunch and the stunning views at the same time!

“Never been to Isle of Man before. Well worth a visit. The Ascot Hotel was excellent, with great food, all done buffet style, with wide choices. Excursions well planned with very knowledgeable coach driver.

“Nothing went wrong but we would have preferred not having to walk to the hotel when we arrived.
